  42. I've not tried the site suggested by the person who wrote yesterday, but what
  43. I do know is that rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de have G++ (not sure which version
  44. thoough). This is also the best Atari FTP site I've seen, it has twice as much
  45. stuff as terminator at least.

  86. No doubt this will differ from country to country, and Atari UK will try
  87. to handle it themselves, then spend a year trying to decide whether to
  88. sell it or give it away (based on their treatment of the Epson emulator
  89. for the SLM804 and the time it took them to release the presentation
  90. graphics program Hyperchart.  By the way, Atari UK still sells v1.0 of
  91. the Epson emulator, whereas Atari USA gives away v1.31.  I know which I
  92. use, and I'm sorry I bought the UK product).

  97. See above.  It would, of course, be sensible to include Deskjet drivers,
  98. but if space is tight on the disk, then an SMM124 (Atari dot matrix
  99. printer, if I've remembered the number correctly) driver might win out.

  199. It is used to define where a "CD" (change dir) command - used in the
  200. shell - should preferably look first.
  201. Just a short look into the documentation ... (please excuse my
  202. translation ;-))

  206.           $HOME will be used. Dir may contain a drive specification

  210.           directory at this path.

  232. I have just bought TURBO C and wanted to create Icons or
  233. Bit-Images for a resource-file with the included Digital-Research
  234. Resource - Construction - Set - Program. As far as I can see
  235. (there is no documentation for the PRG included) you can not
  236. do these pictures with RCS.PRG !! The only possibilty is to open
  237. such an empty object, and then load the image from disk out of
  238. a file with the extension *.ICN !!!! Does anybody know of a program
  239. that is able to create such files, or are there any other possibilitys.

  332. It doesn't work either with TOS 1.2. This would seem to be why Atari removed it
  333. from the ST language disk. It is possible to run LOGO.PRG and edit with it,
  334. but it falls over itself soon after starting to run a LOGO program. I guess it
  335. relies on internal GEM variables in TOS 1.0.

  387. I heard this works on TOS 1.6 if you put the 256k SIMMs as the first bank
  388. and the 1M SIMMs as the second bank.  But I could be wrong.  If you're
  389. having trouble, though, it's trivial to try it the other way.

  405. SLM804, the laser printer, barely runs on a MEGA2. 4 mb is simply not enough
  406. if you have other program in memory.

  410. I think adding a fast disk (say 900 Kilo bytes/sec) is cost effective than
  411. adding two or four megabytes of memory above 4 mb on my old Mega4.

  423. MultiGEM, which is said to be a multitasking system for the ST.
  424. Does anybody know anything about it?  In particular:

  426. 1.  How good is it?  Will it run, for example, dvist and unix
  427. windows?  Will it permit a background kermit transfer via unix
  428. windows or uniterm?

  430. 2.  How does it compare to MiNT?

  432. 3.  Does it run on a TT?  If not, is there a version for the TT?

  486. Thanks to everyone who replied to my previous posting.  So far I had been
  487. formatting on the PC but it was getting tiresome when I had to keep running
  488. out to the campus just to format another dozen or so disks.  The information
  489. is very useful.

  531.         Actually, a good number of BBSes should have a formatting tool that
  532. allows the ST to format for MS-DOS machines. (The formatting is actually
  533. identical-- a few boot sectors have to be placed on the disk.)

  639. About a week ago someone posted to Atari Digest the name of
  640. someone at Atari USA to write to about future support for
  641. WORDPERFECT. I wrote it down but lost it. I'm in a letter
  642. writing mood so I would appreciate it if someone could
  643. e-mail me the name and address for the above individual.
  644. The existance of WORDPERFECT for the ST would certainly
  645. be an important factor for students or profs purchasing
  646. an ST at our university-WORDPERFECT is the standard across
  647. all departments and administration. It is certainly the
  648. choice for me when submitting manuscripts to scientific
  649. journals. No scientific journal will ever adopt WORDUP as
  650. a standard for accepting manuscripts on disk. My wife
  651. is also a translator for the government and their wordprocessor
  652. is also WORDPERFECT. Some may feel it is futile but I
  653. would like to write so I would appreciate the name. My wife
  654. is going to write too.
